PINHEY'S POINT FOUNDATION

The Pinhey's Point Foundation is a voluntary, non-profit organization dedicated to the heritage aspects of the buildings and lands at HORACEVILLE, Pinhey's Point.

HORACEVILLE is a designated provincial heritage site; a historical plaque was erected in 1967. The property remained in the Pinhey family until it was sold to March Township by the heirs of Miss Ruth Pinhey, who died in 1971. In 1980 the Pinhey's Point Foundation was established, charged with preserving and developing the estate as a historic site and passive recreation area. The Foundation acquired the property in 1983 and conveyed it to the City of Kanata (now part of the City of Ottawa) in 1990.

Through its volunteer members, the Foundation presents historical exhibits each summer, publishes a bi-annual newsletter, the Horaceville Herald, organizes related events, assists in staffing the house during the busy summer months, liaises with similar organizations, and works with City of Ottawa staff in the development and use of this historic property.

BECOME A SUPPORTING MEMBER, OR A VOLUNTEER...

In these hard times we cannot take heritage for granted.

HORACEVILLE is one of the most beautiful riverfront spots in the National Capital Region. The house itself is one of the oldest and most important heritage structures in eastern Ontario. Admission to both these amenities is free of charge. However, time, effort, and money are needed to keep them open.
