Pewter mug, baluster form with scroll handle and touch marks. Circa 1820-1840. Engraved "H.K. Pinhey, Horaceville, Upper Canada". Hamnett Kirkes Pinhey retired from trade at the age of 35 and came to Canada from London, England, in 1820 to reinvent himself as a landed gentleman. Horaceville was the product of his ambition and talents. We know from his daily farm accounts that he grew hops to brew beer.
