OCTOBER 1860.

1 Monday. James at sundries in morn:, help bring home some tatoes & at sundries till dinner, then thrash wheat, Muldoon thrash peas in morn:, cart in some tatoes, at peas again, Peter not here in do_, then at do__ do, then to Streets & Benning's after a plane till noon, thrash peas, Griffin ill____ George about cows &e, kill a roaster, saw wood__ Collins plane g plank & clap-boards____ Self at sundries & fasten fore-shoes on Major till dinner, then fix lid on boiller & rig up steam-box____

2 Tuesday. James uncover water-pipe, then take out tatoes, Muldoon & Peter take out tatoes__ Griffin at tatoes in morn:, then point g & underpin g back of old house____ George about cows &e, kill a roaster, fill the boiller & steam-box & at sundries____ Collins board up roof & began to shingle____ Self take cover off water-pipe, clean out the mud, let water out of dam, tin one angle passage [???]

3 Wednesday. James, Muldoon, Griffin take out tatoes, Peter to Berry's & saw wood in morn:, then at tatoes, George about cows &e, steam the tatoes & at sundries___ Collins shingling____ Self about water pipe & tin the other angle of roof___

4 Thursday. James at sundries in morn:, saw hard-wood & to Berry's for some things he brought from Ottawa till noon, then after wood for himself, Muldoon thrash peas in morn:, help thrash, clean up & carry wheat to Mill till dinner, then at tatoes, peter at peas till dinner, then at do___, Griffin thrash &e, wheat till dinner, then under-pin back of old house, George about sundries__ Collins plough & frame plank for passage__

5 Friday. James help with pea-straw in morn:, help fill 6 bags tatoes, then take out tatoes___ Muldoon cart pea-straw in morn: cart 2 load rubbish away from old back-door, bring home a trip of tatoes, take out tatoes, Peter wheel dung out of pigs-yard into sheep-yard in morn:, then at tatoes, Griffin help out spring pig & at sundries in morn: then at tatoes in garden___ George about cows & pigs &e, kill a roaster, fill steam-box & about sundries___ Collins same as yesterday___ Self at frame of passage___

6 Saturday. James at garden tatoes in morn:, at feild crop till about 3 o'C, then put earth on water pipe & at sundries, Muldon at garden tatoes in morn:, then feild crop, Peter the same_____ Griffin kill a lamb in morn:, take out garden tatoes till sunset, feed pigs &e___ George about pigs &e in morn:, steam tatoes & mix 'em, saw wood, churn late in even g ___ Collins fit a narrow plank in at each end of front side of scullery, finish the roof, fit the door________ Self about water-pipe, hang do__ do________

7 Sunday. Church P.M. M r Butler & Sara-Jane slept here__

8 Monday. James uncover water-pipe in two places, saw wood & help in Gristmill, Muldoon, Peter & Tom Durick at tatoes, Griffin at tatoes in garden till about 10 o'C, then in feild till dinner, off to Aylmer, George about pigs &e, boil 2 pots of tatoes & mix 'em & at sundries, Collins came at noon, went on with plank for back wall of passage____ Self at little else than examine for leak in water-pipe till even g , work Gristmill__

9 Tuesday. James about pigs &e, steam taotes, saw wood, help take up spindle, mix pigs food__ Muldoon & Durick take out tatoes, Peter help catch lambs & at sundries in morn:, to Rob ts & in Gristmill till dinner, then at tatoes__ Griffin not here, George ill, made kitch: fire, cleaned up a roaster__
Collins put g up back wall of passage___
Self started Gristmill about 11 o'C, did not go well, stop d her, put back bridge-tree of spun [?] -wheel, start d again, stop d again, took up stone &e
