9 Thursday. James about horses in morn - , settle troughs under sawmill, thrash oats, John about cattle &c, clean out gran - stable, split long pine junks, grind axes___ Griffin came about noon, thrash oats___ Jay caulk & pitch part of 20 Sep t flume, file both my woodsaws & Constance's hard-wood one, put a step in old stairs, hinges on gran - door, file old X cut________

10 Friday. James about horses in morn - , finish about house after breakfast, clear rubbish out of flume &e, stop leak at mouth of race & let on the water, then about sundries, thrash oats for a while, do all up at night, Griffin thrash oats, John about cattle &e in morn - , Rider split long pine junks, then both chop hardwood___ George sort Rusties_____

11 Saturday. James to Aylmer, John & Rider about horses & grind old ax in morn - then chop hard-wood, Griffin about cattle &e, thrash oats till dinner, then saw hardwood &e, draw 1 load hay form White barn to Cow-loft & do up cattle &e___

12 Sunday. No visitors___ Went. Monk lectured at Bessborough.

13 Monday. James about horses in morn - , then to Ottawa on the ice by Aylmer, came back by Merriefields, found the ice very unsafe, sent two men across at sunset to meet him, John fodder cattle &e in morn - , then chop hardwood, Griffin thrash oats, attend about house &e, Rider saw wood in morn - , to Aylmer with James, got back about 2½ o'C, then draw 1 load oat-straw to Cow, grind his axe_____

14 Tuesday. James about horses in morn - , then went home, John fodder cattle &e in morn - , then off to chop hardwood, came back about 11 o'C on act. of the rain, then fill tatoe steam-box, sort cups, do up horses, Rider saw wood in morn., chop hardwood same time as John, then saw hardwood, sort cups, Griffin thrash oats in morn - , finish about house after breakfast then again___ Self not very well since yesterday afternoon.

15 Wednesday. James ill, Griffin finish thrash oats in morn - , then chop hardwood, Rider saw hardwood in morn - , then chop hardwood, John about horses in morn - , then steam tatoes, finish about house, then clean up the oats & put them away by a late dinner, draw 1 load oat-straw (the last) to Cows & 1 load hay, then do up all____ George help clean up oats & help down with straw & hay___

16 Thursday. James ill till noon, then grease sawmill & fix things ready to begin sawing, run about 3 cuts when one the ends of lower lever of water gate split, fix it up with a piece of board & rope, saw again, Griffin fodder cattle &3, draw 1 load hay* to gran - loft, 1 load to Sheep & 1 load to Cows, draw up slabs__ John about horses in morn - , chop hardwood, Rider saw hardwood in morn - , then chop do do___

17 Friday. James at repairs about water gate in flume till about 10 o'C, then saw, John about horses in morn - , Rider saw wood in morn., then both chop hardwood, Griffin about cattle &e, finish drawing the slabs, then about sundries, split up wood, do all up at night____

18 Saturday. James work saw mill, John about horses in morn - , Rider sundries in morn - , both at hardwood, Griffin fodder cattle & draw logs to Mill in morn - , then kill a roaster & at sundries till dinner, then put up fences & bars on winter road, split up wood & do all up___ George help in with logs to Mill, help up with fences_____ Self went out for a short time in after-noon, then peg up hoop on small wash tub.

19 Sunday. Maria here about 1 o'C, Rob t came in afternoon took tea_____

20 Monday. James work saw mill, broke a cog in gig-wheel in
afternoon, put in a new one & saw again, Rider sundries
in morn - , grind his ax, then
Griffin fodder cattle &e in morn - , kill a roaster & at sundries till dinner, help in with logs to mill, help put up sleighs, fill up a few holes in layland, do up cattle &e___ John about horses in morn - , take off all their shoes & replace one on Springs split hoof & at sundries till dinner, help with logs into mill, put up sleighs, began to fill up holes in layland about 5 o'C__
